Cedar Roof Cleaning Professional NJ
We do not “pressure wash” cedar roofs. There are 2 ways a cedar roof can be cleaned. One is to apply sodium percarbonate and follow up with a low-pressure power wash. The problem with this is you need to be above the shingle in order to pressure wash downward. In most case a lift is required. A lift adds a lot of expense and can cause damage to landscape and sidewalks.
Roof cleaning is not a “power washing” job. Learn more about roof cleaning in this video Cedar Roof Cleaning Video
Cedar Roof Cleaning Treatment
If the problem on your roof is moss or mold we can treat your roof with a mild detergent that contains a small amount of bleach. After application with a short dwell time the roof can be rinsed. It just needs to stay up there long enough to kill the mold. Using bleach on a cedar roof should not be used frequently since bleach can break down the fibers of the shingle. This process should not exceed 5 applications over the life of a cedar roof. Mold and rot are doing the real damage. Mold allows the shingle to retain moisture. It can become soft and fail. It is important to keep the shingle clean of mold, moss and algae. Visit our other cedar roof cleaning page here Cedar Roof Cleaning
Each full roof treatment comes with our 3 Year Spot-Free Warranty. We know that by completely sterilizing the roof it will stay clean for many years. If the roof is spot-treated you can expect the mold to regenerate faster.
Moss and Lichens
Moss and lichen die immediately after treatment. Like any other type of plant or fungus it will die and decompose before washing away with a few rains. It can take up to 3 months in severe cases.
