Most clients need a simple cleaning to remove general mold or pollen build up. There is never a reason to use overly aggressive high pressure when cleaning any type of deck. Any build up on the deck surface is likely mold or algae especially in areas with ample tree cover. Tree cover allows the decks to retain more moisture allowing mold to grow. Any deck, even Trex or painted decks can be safely soft power washed with detergent to achieve maximum results with full sterilization. What does full sterilization mean? You can safely eat from the deck surface upon completion. That is no exaggeration!

If you need a restoration and want to get it back to its natural, we can work on that. In many cases a restoration is in order for natural wood decks. A restoration type cleaning will open the pores of the wood and allow years of build up to flush out. Once the pores are open and the wood is dry it will better accept any type of stain or condition that is applied. you cannot apply stain or a sealer to an older dirty deck because the stain cannot penetrate the pores. The stain will sit at the surface and remain sticky. It won’t cure. This is a nightmare situation. Therefore when it comes to wood decks, if you’re going to stain it or apply any type of water proofing product, you gotta properly clean it!
Each Deck Has It’s Own Cleaning Process
Wood Decks: Whether your deck is painted, stained or bare to the bones we have the right formula to remove the mold and keep things looking fresh. We use specifically calibrated detergent to removes mold, mildew and common dirt safely and effectively.
Trex & Composite Decking: Trex is a brand name but theyre all synthetic wood composite material and should never be cleaned using high pressure. You could etch the surface leaving permanent scarring the the plank. A simple detergent at low pressure is alls it takes to achieve maximum surgical level clean.
IPO Wood Decking: Yes, it’s soft, delicate and expensive. An inexperienced contractor can easily make damage. It’s not about the pressure. We’ve mastered the techniques of detergents on every level. Depending on what level the cleaning your IPO deck needs will determine the right detergent. Follow up rinse pressure do not exceed 220 psi.
